Data analyst

Data analysts are responsible for the process of discovering useful information within data to support decision-making at an organization. The tasks required for this role include:

  • Gathering data from internal and external sources
  • Cleaning and reformatting the data
  • Analyzing the data set using statistical tools to draw conclusions
  • Preparing reports that effectively communicate the findings

They work with existing data to identify trends, correlations and patterns and discover new opportunities for process improvement. A data analyst differs from a data scientist by working with existing data and algorithms to solve problems and support an organization’s goals.
