Computer vision
Computer vision is a rapidly growing technology that takes visual inputs from sources, such as images or videos, and analyzes them using algorithms, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The analysis becomes important data to help other systems make decisions.
For example, a self-driving car uses computer vision — processing multiple streams of data to travel safely on the road. In manufacturing applications, it can be used to assist with quality control or monitor safety conditions.
One benefit of computer vision, which is similar to machine vision, is that it eliminates human error attributed to fatigue, subjective decision-making and distractions. It can also be implemented in dangerous environments, is incredibly accurate and can monitor conditions 24/7/365.
