Business process automation

Business process automation is an approach that reduces the dependency on individual task executions in core business processes. Software-based tools are used to help organizations reallocate resources, reduce bottlenecks and drive new efficiencies.

Common use cases include:

  • Employee onboarding/offboarding
  • Content approvals
  • Sale contracts
  • IT management

Historically, automation is used to complete repetitive and simple tasks. But business process automation refers to increasingly complex use cases, including multistep digital tasks, organizing and understanding unstructured data, and communicating using human language.

IT management is one area where business process automation can help organizations maximize resources to focus on initiatives that help grow the business. Many IT tasks, from managing networks and provisioning resources to developing applications, can be automated to help organizations improve operations.
