Glossary What are Large Language Models?

By   / 2 Jan 2023  / Topics: Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Large Language Models (LLMs) are massive neural networks, an advanced subset of generative AI, that are trained to recognize and generate vast amounts of text data. Deep learning algorithms use machine learning to create human-like text. LLMs require substantial computational resources for both training and operation. They are pre-trained using self-supervised and semi-supervised learning.

Use Cases for Large Language Models

  • Summarize sections or pages of text.
  • Rewrite content based on user's end goal.
  • Interpret complex sentences and identify user intent.
  • Predict the next word in a sentence, phrase or answer a question.
  • Translate text into multiple languages.
  • Generate text on any topic the LLM has been trained on.
