Sydney, Australia, May 21, 2020 -- Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), today announced its status as a launch partner for Microsoft’s Project Bonsai solution, that is now in public preview, announced at Microsoft Build developer conference on May 20, 2020.

The Project Bonsai solution is a machine-teaching service to create and optimise intelligence for industrial-control systems. Through machine teaching, subject-matter experts without an AI background can break down their expertise into steps and tasks that are imparted to AI agents. The experts can specify desired outcomes and criteria, then supervise and train the AI agents as they work to solve problems in simulated virtual environments. Once they are sufficiently trained in the simulation, those AI agents can use their knowledge to power autonomous systems in real-world applications.

“We are privileged to be one of the few exclusive partners to work directly with the Microsoft Project Bonsai engineering team during the Early Adoption Program. It is truly exciting to see the platform launch to Public Preview at Microsoft Build, with Insight listed as one of the launch partners” said Veli-Matti Vanamo, Chief Technology Officer at Insight APAC.

Insight is a Microsoft Inner Circle Partner for Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and has demonstrated strong expertise in helping industrial customers achieve operational efficiency and preventative maintenance through machine learning and machine teaching solutions.

“We are excited to partner with Insight and leverage their domain expertise in helping mutual customers derive value from Microsoft's Project Bonsai, a unique combination of deep reinforcement learning and Machine Teaching to optimise control systems in complex industrial scenarios." Hardik Mehta, SI Partnerships Lead, Autonomous Systems, Microsoft Research

Project Bonsai is currently being trialled with a few industrial Insight customers, where they are looking to accelerate their machine-teaching capabilities to increase efficiency and promote safety at production sites.

Project Bonsai is the first service component of Microsoft’s autonomous-systems vision. Insight looks forward to continuing the partnership with Microsoft in autonomous systems and advancing AI solutions for Industry 4.0.
