Renowned Newsman Peter Mansbridge Joined Insight Webinar Exploring Extraordinary Leadership in Unusual Times

The award-winning journalist and experts from Insight, Microsoft, Dell and Adobe discussed inspiring stories about Canadians and how technology is enabling leaders through digital means

TEMPE, Ariz., December 4, 2020 – Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), the global integrator of Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions™ for organizations of all sizes, invited renowned Canadian journalist and best-selling author Peter Mansbridge to discuss extraordinary acts of leadership and technology’s growing role in effectively leading more dispersed workforces.

Mansbridge, a longtime CBC News chief correspondent and anchor and the national best-selling author of Extraordinary Canadians, joined the Extraordinary Leadership in Technology virtual event on November 25. He shared stories of remarkable Canadians he’s encountered throughout his career who embody leadership at its core through acts of compassion, courage and freedom.

IT leaders from Insight, Microsoft, Dell Technologies and Adobe also explored how the latest technology can convey leadership values like these to today’s mobile worker, who spends more time connecting through digital platforms than face-to-face. The technology thought leaders shared new approaches to keeping teams connected, motivated and productive from afar.

“We’ve all witnessed inspiring acts by people who go above and beyond what is normally expected, and that has been especially apparent this year. The personal stories I share are emotional and relatable to everyone. In highlighting these everyday acts of ‘extraordinary,’ I hope our audience gains a new perspective of what it means to be Canadian and how we can still make a difference even as we interact at more of a distance now,” said Mansbridge.

For five decades, including 29 years as the anchor of CBC’s The National, Mansbridge has guided us through the political, economic and cultural events that have shaped the country. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada — one of the country’s highest civilian honors — for his contributions to broadcasting, commitment to helping Canadians better understand their country and the world, and for his dedication to literacy and Canada’s youth. Mansbridge’s best-selling new novel, Extraordinary Canadians: Stories from the Heart of Our Nation, features first-person accounts of inspiration from politicians, doctors, veterans, immigrants, business leaders and more.

John Dathan, Insight Canada’s senior vice president and general manager, hosted sessions on how leaders can adapt to today’s hybrid workplace. Presentations were also made by Sherief Ibrahim, business group leader, Microsoft Canada; Pamela Pelletier, national sales director, Dell Technologies; and Taylor Kobey, solutions consultant for digital media, Adobe.

“Organizations have had to completely rewire how they work, and leading teams or engaging clients across digital channels requires a new set of people skills that’s more attuned to technology,” said Dathan. “With Gartner indicating that 74% of CFOs wants to increase remote work after the pandemic to optimize costs, we’re looking to address the right ways to keep people motivated and engaged as they work remotely to some degree over the long haul. We know that organizations need to be very prescriptive about taking the right steps to set up the perimeter-less workforce for success.”

Insight partners Adobe, Cisco, Dell Technologies, Jabra, Lenovo, Microsoft, Samsung and VMWare were gold sponsors of the event, and Acer, Intel, Juniper Networks and LG Business Solutions were silver sponsors.
